Take the Cake: Bite-sized Inspiration for the Savvy Baker

How to: Decorate Holiday Cookies

Next to presents and quality time with friends and family, cookies are the best part of the holidays.

What’s great about holiday cookies is that they come in all different shapes, sizes and flavors. Decorating cookies can be hard, but you don’t have to be an artist to make them the star of the holiday party. We came up with a few tricks to help your cookies stand out this holiday season!

Dip Your Cookies!

Just by dipping your cookies in white, milk or dark chocolate you have a quick and delicious decoration for any cookie (who wouldn’t love a cookie covered in chocolate?)! If you’re feeling a little extra fancy, try making these gingerbread cookies dipped in white chocolate – the baker piped some holly using colored melting chocolates and a piping bag.

Mint and chocolate are a holiday dynamic duo, making candy canes the perfect holiday decoration on top of a chocolate cookie. Just crush up some extra candy canes and sprinkle them on top, like sprinkles!

Not Your Average Gingerbread Man!

It’s not the law to make your gingerbread cookies shaped like men (even though they are the  cutest!). Next time you make your holiday gingerbread cookies, try out different cookie shapes and pipe different patterns on with a fine tip piping bag and some royal icing – get creative with your designs!

Add Edible Pearls!

Pearls are the most elegant and easiest way to make your holiday cookies shine! They come in a variety of colors so they match any color scheme your party has. P.S. They’re made of sugar, making your holidays extra sweet!
