Summer’s in full swing and boy, is it hot.

Summer heat can be pretty brutal. Your hair goes flat if it’s too thick and frizzy if it’s easily affected by humidity; your makeup starts to run, and your A/C is working overtime to keep you cool. So what’s a girl to do? How about make a snack? We’ve gathered up some of our favorite summertime treats, perfect for beating the heat, and for keeping your sanity on those days when you can’t make it to the beach.

Raspberry Lemonade Slushie

Most of us love a good slushie every now and then. It’s the convenience store classic that we all grew up on, and thanks to blogger Sarah at Raining Hot Coupons, you can make your own version at home! This Raspberry Lemonade Slushie is made with only FOUR ingredients, like fresh raspberries and lemon juice, and it’s much healthier than what you could get from a machine. Just throw the ingredients in the blender, pour into glasses, and you’re good to go.

Strawberry Watermelon Popsicles

Popsicles are a super easy treat to make at home – all you need is a mold and some popsicle sticks! And this recipe for Strawberry Watermelon Popsicles, from blogger Emily at One Lovely Life, is the perfect way to stay cool, AND make use of that leftover watermelon from your pool party. All you have to do is purée your fruit in the blender, pour into popsicle molds, and freeze. It’s that simple – and good for you, too!

Homemade Blueberry Ice Cream

Nothing beats a bowl of creamy ice cream in the summer, especially when it’s made in YOUR kitchen! This Blueberry Ice Cream from the food blog Baked By Rachel is a delicious and creative way to make use of blueberries (while they’re still in peak season). With its gorgeous purple-blue hue, this ice cream is not only delicious, but it’s also pleasing to the eyes!  NOTE: You will need an ice cream maker in order to make this recipe. But oh so worth it!

Frozen Yogurt Bites

For a more portable frozen treat, try these simple froyo bites from Eating on a Dime. Author Carrie uses Yoplait® GO-GURT® to make her froyo bites, but any fruit-flavored yogurt will work for this recipe (hint: use more than one flavor for extra fun). Simply squirt small drops of yogurt on a wax paper-covered cookie sheet and freeze for the perfect on-the-go snack! YUM.

Rainbow Fruit Kabobs

For this last snack, we went with a non-frozen option – Rainbow Fruit Kabobs! This recipe, from Chocolate Covered Katie, is a fun and tasty way to get your daily fruit intake. Pick your favorite fruit, such as pineapple, kiwi, or grapes, or even change it up for some variety. Delicious and nutritious! Pair these fruit kabobs with some Greek yogurt dip, and you’ve got the perfect summertime snack.

All that sounds pretty tasty (and easy), doesn’t it? Best part of all, these recipes are budget-friendly, and you know what that means – more room to travel, and to buy that cute designer swimsuit you’ve had your eye on! It’s a win-win situation.
