The Poconos have become an underrated getaway for New Yorkers, who typically flock to the Catskills during the winter. Explore a snowy forest on a winter hike or take a ride on the back of a dog sled. The mountain range will have you at one with nature, and leave you with plenty of Insta worthy moments.
Salt Point, NY
You’re guaranteed to feel a world away from the big city with picturesque communities, farmland and rolling hills. Spend the weekend outdoors, with hikes providing 360º views of the Hudson Valley and Catskills.
This historic town is straight out of a picture book, or the fictional Stars Hollow, for all you Gilmore Girls fans. The views of rivers, steepled churches and stone Colonial homes will have you relaxed in no time.
Take the LIRR out to Long Island for a weekend on the coast. A nature walk through Montauk Point State Park or a climb up to its lighthouse will provide you with gorgeous views of the bay, ocean and local wildlife.

For a longer weekend, make your way to a wine getaway.
