Fall’s approaching soon and you know what that means…

Now that summer’s coming to a close, it’s time to pack away your swimsuits and take out your sweaters! The leaves will turn orange, the temperature will drop, and you know what that means: it’s apple picking season. If you’re around the tri-state area, here are some of the best local spots to go apple picking!

 

Masker Orchards

Not only can you pick a huge variety of apples at Masker Orchards including Golden Delicious, Macintosh, Granny Smith, and more, you can also experience classic autumn activities! Feel free to snack on some apples as you enjoy wagon rides and barnyard animals around the orchards.

 

Outhouse Orchards

Local families flock to Outhouse Orchards just for their apple cider doughnuts. With fudge, pies, turkey legs, and of course, apples, you’ll never run out new goodies to taste. The orchards also features hayrides, farm animals, and pumpkin picking later in the season.

 

Wightman’s Farms

Think you’re good at corn mazes? After picking your fair share of apples, take your skills to the next level with Wightman’s Farms’ crawl maze, giant hay maze, pipe maze, and its rope maze. Finish the day off at the healthy farmer’s market for some fresh produce before you go.

 

Alstede Farms

Enjoy hundreds of rows worth of apples, peaches, pumpkins, corn, blackberries, and raspberries at this diverse Jersey farm. With all that fruit, a bouncy house, and a bunny run, what more could you ask for? That’s right: homemade ice cream! Pair your newly picked fruit with some fresh ice cream and hop on a hay ride to finish off your day.

 

Silverman’s Farm

Known for its rare varieties of apples, Silverman’s Farm is also home to a not-so-standard petting zoo. Featuring buffalo, llamas, emus, and longhorn cattle, this is the farm to go to if you’re looking for a unique apple-picking experience.

 

Averill Farm

For a scenic backdrop as you look for the perfect apples, Averill Farm is just the place. It even has pumpkin picking, fall squashes, gourds, cornstalks, and festive scarecrows to give you the full autumn experience.
